The DOT Licence was applied almost six months ago and was granted about a month or so back. The Call Center is a proprietory firm located in a B Class town which has been granted the OSP Licence.

I am too of that opinion that any Govt Body cant refuse registration what so ever to any entity.These entities have all recognitions is banks provide loans to Prop firm and Partnerships. Majority of small players in the market are Prop or partnership firms. Pls advise

I have nothing to argue. I was just sharing my piece of current information regarding current DOT policy. But i would like to add, legal matters do not go our opinion, rather it goes by established rules and procedures, which are most of the times illogical, irrational and even irritating.

Anyway, if you could tell me, when did ur client (proprietership firm) got DOT licence, then only i would be able to comment on it. Moreover if u are sure about partnership-propritership eligibility, i can give you 10-15 clients.

Not to sound too condescending, in my opinion, any commercial entity has to have the option of opening a call center whether it be a proprietorship, partnership or a ltd. company registered with ROC. If DOT says that only Ltd. companies can apply for such a licence, then they are excluding all small players which is not possible in a democracy and an economy like India. I already have a client in a B Class Town and a proprietorship who has applied for and recieved the OSP Licence. Just to correct the confusion.

I have received quite a few enquiries, about DOT licence, and there appears to be complete confusion among members about it. Al though it wont be possible to put everything here as it's a lengthy and legal issue, still would like to make the things simple for you.

"ONLY COMPANIES (PUBLIC-PRIVATE) LIMITED" are eligible for OSP licence. PARTNERSHIP OR PROPRITERSHIP ARE FREE TO APPLY, BUT THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE"

The problem here is most centers dont even know such a licence exists and what to do about it or even its important. Awareness is important.

We share the concern of the members about DOT licence for CC-BPO. However there is no surprise in that. As it happens in any industry and in any part of the world, in the first phase, government facilitates and then it tries to regulate. So this CC-BPO industry in INDIA is poised for the second phase of consolidation. And yes in the long run, it would be in the interest of the industry, if it gets a better legal stand.

Now, most of the posting give piece meal information, where in legal issues, you have to be 110% accurate.

We are working as a consultant for CC-BPO for last four and a half year, and can guide you completely in getting this licence. But we charge a small fee of Rs.2500 for that.

In the past also we have posted similar thing, and have got good response from the forum.
