BPO industry of Asia Pacific slated for growth up to $9.5 billion by 2016 |
Gartner, the authoritative IT Research and Advisory Company, released a report projecting optimistic growth for BPO industry in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Countries like India, Philippines, China together touched the $5.9 billion mark in 2011.
This year too they are inching towards the $6.45 billion mark in 2012. At this pace, Gartner predicts, the BPO industry will be worth $9.5 billion by 2016. Japan was excluded from this list of APAC countries. Australia was ranked as the top market for BPO services worth $4.63 and value of the region, followed by India at $1.26 billion. The director of this research, TJ Singh asserted that there was ample scope for expansion and said “The Asia-Pacific BPO market is still relatively under-developed and under- exploited (with the exception of Australia and New Zealand) when compared with other markets or regions.”
The consortium of Call Centers in India welcomes this news and is upbeat of greater growth. The BPO and Call Center industry employs most of the fresher population who are graduating from Indian universities in hordes. India is not just an offshore hub, but also has a lot of domestic clients who are outsourcing their Data Entry, Customer Support Services etc. to Call Centers in India. Gartner states that India and China are indeed the fastest growing markets and they receive The fastest-growing BPO markets within the region will continue to be led by China and India. Banking and financial services, communications, government (both local and federal), technology, retail, and travel and transportation continue to be the largest consumers of BPO services in the region, said Gartner. The BPO industry has also progressed into a new paradigm of Business Process Management (BPM). This leap has brought in more high-end clients for India.
